Converting files
Which conversions are available?
PDF to Word (DOCX), PDF to DOC (Word 97-2003), scanned PDF to Word with OCR, PDF to plain text (TXT), and Word/ODT/RTF to PDF.
How long does a conversion take?
A typical 10-page document takes a few seconds. Scanned documents take longer because every page is read with OCR — roughly 2 to 5 seconds per page. The progress bar shows the page being processed in real time.
Why is my file “waiting in queue”?
To keep conversions fast, the server processes a limited number of files at the same time. When it is busy, your file waits a few seconds and starts automatically. Keep the page open.
Can I convert several files at once?
Convert them one after the other: as soon as a file is finished, click “Convert another file”. Each result stays available for one hour.
Quality and formatting
The layout of my Word file is slightly different from the PDF. Why?
A PDF stores the exact position of every character, while Word flows text in paragraphs. The converter recreates paragraphs, tables and columns, which gives an editable file but can move some elements on complex designs (posters, magazines, forms). Small adjustments may be needed.
The text in my document is gibberish or missing.
Some PDFs have a damaged or missing text layer, or use fonts without character information. Convert the file again with “Scanned document (OCR)” ticked: the text will be read from the page images instead.
How do I get the best OCR results?
Use scans of at least 200–300 DPI, straight pages, good contrast and no shadows. Photos taken with a phone work if the page fills the picture and is in focus.
Are Arabic and other right-to-left languages supported?
Yes. Arabic, Persian, Urdu and Hebrew documents are converted with a dedicated engine that restores the correct reading order, right-aligns paragraphs and keeps tables in right-to-left order. Mixed Arabic/French or Arabic/English documents are handled paragraph by paragraph.
Do I need to choose the language of my document?
No. The language and writing system are detected automatically, including for scanned documents.
Files and limits
What are the limits?
PDF files: up to 50 MB and 300 pages. Word/ODT/RTF files: up to 30 MB. Up to 40 conversions per hour.
My PDF is password-protected.
Open it in a PDF reader with the password, then save or print it as a new PDF without protection and convert that copy.
How long are my files kept?
One hour, after which they are permanently deleted. You can delete them immediately with the “Delete now” button after downloading.
Which programs can open the converted files?
DOCX and DOC files open in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs, Apple Pages and WPS Office. TXT files open in any text editor. PDF files open in any browser.
